The differences that need words

Depth. Joy offers more rule types: a rule engine with weekend and product multipliers, Instagram comment and story rewards, milestone rewards, B2B tiers and paid membership, mostly from Advanced ($129). Froonze covers points, VIP tiers with per-tier multipliers, referrals, expiry, POS and store credit, without those extras.

How the bill grows. On Joy, Advanced includes 2,000 orders and adds $10 for each extra 100. On Froonze the price steps to a fixed plan: $10, $30, then $60 for unlimited orders.

Where Froonze costs less. VIP tiers, Shopify POS and wallet cards cost $129 on Joy (Advanced). On Froonze, VIP tiers and POS start at $10, and wallet cards are on the $60 Unlimited plan.

When Joy might be the better choice

.
  • You want a rule engine and bonus campaigns. Joy also offers Instagram comment and story rewards, mostly from Advanced ($129/mo).
  • You want free gift or gift card rewards built in. Froonze handles free products with a workaround and has no gift cards.
  • You want a larger free plan, B2B tiers or paid membership. Joy's free plan covers 250 orders a month against Froonze's 100.

Why merchants choose Froonze

.
  • VIP tiers and POS from $10. Joy puts both on its $129/mo Advanced plan.
  • Wallet cards, checkout redemption and API on $60. Joy needs Advanced ($129/mo) for wallet cards and Ultimate ($499/mo) for the rest.
  • No overage charges. Plans step up to a fixed price, and the top Loyalty plan is $60/mo.
  • More than loyalty, if you want it. Add wishlists, reviews and customer accounts later, together or separately.

How does data come in? Joy's help says customer data can be exported to CSV. Froonze has a self-serve CSV import ("Add points to existing customer balances", up to 10MB).
Who does the work? Merchants can use the self-serve import. Support-assisted migration is listed from Loyalty Premium.
What should you test first? Import a few customers and check balances, then tiers, expiry dates and redeemable rewards. We have not tested a full Joy-to-Froonze migration, so start with a small file.
